Persiba Balikpapan

Persiba, an acronym for Persatuan Sepak Bola Indonesia Balikpapan is an Indonesianfootball club based in Balikpapan, Indonesia. In media, the tautology Persiba Balikpapan is often used and to distinguish the club with another club with the same acronym, Persiba Bantul.Beruang Madu (Malayan Sun Bear) is the club's nick name, taken from the mascot of City ofBalikpapan. Another nickname of Persiba is Selicin Minyak (slippery as oil). It is influenced by the fact that Balikpapan is the center for oil and gas industry of Indonesia. Persiba home stadium is Persiba Stadium with 15,000 capacity.

Persiba plays in the Indonesia Super League, the top rank football competition in Indonesia.Persiba Stadium is their home base.

Currently, Mijo Dadic (defender) holds captaincy ban for Persiba.

Supporters

Persiba supporters are known as PFC or Persiba Fans Club. Another group of Persiba fans club claims themselves as Balistik or Balikpapan Supporter Fanatik. Balistik are members ofEast Kalimantan Supporter Association (Asosiasi Supporter Kalimantan Timur) which covers all football fans throughout East Kalimantan region.
